Volunteers and Students meet at the Foundation’s house to participate in diverse immersion activities to practice and improve their Spanish, understanding of Ecuador and join in camaraderie with other volunteers and Foundation staff.  All activities are free of cost for our volunteers and Spanish students. Enjoy the hands-on classes on Ecuadorian cooking, drinks-making, chocolate, salsa dance, Zumba, exotic fruits, and more.  There are also afternoon excursions to museums, local restaurants with traditional food, a tattoo and piercing shop, traditional markets, spas, and more.  These afternoon activities are hosted by our local coordinators, who will encourage you to speak Spanish and help you with translation as necessary.   All of these activities are optional.

Chocolate making show: We will transform the cocoa bean into chocolate and our entire room will be filled with the most delicious smell of sweet chocolate!
Salsa Classes: Our salsa teacher will teach you to move your body to the rhythm of tropical music such that in no time you will be an expert.
Yoga Classes: On an inner journey you will learn to meditate and relax with our yoga teacher, one of the best in Ecuador! Namaste.
Zumba Classes: De-stress by moving your arms and hips to the rhythm of Zumba and learn to coordinate your movements, an excellent exercise and Spanish practice.
Exotic fruit class: Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world and we have a variety of exotic fruits, we will teach you more about the fruits and sample them in this true delight for your palate!! You will try fruits that you didn’t know existed!! Guava, naranjilla, tree tomato, piyajaya, uvilla will be new words in your vocabulary.
Soccer: We will play a soccer match with all the passion of Ecuadorians against the rest of the world. The screams and excitement will max your adrenaline to the limit!!
Visit to the Artisan Market: Visit a market where the indigenous people offer artisan products and you can practice Kitchua-derived words like “yapa” and learn to bargain!
Karaoke night: We all get together to sing at the top of our lungs in Spanish! It will be an unforgettable night!!
Spa afternoon: In Ecuador, manicures, pedicures and other beauty treatments are very cheap! Let’s all have fun and have a relaxing afternoon and pamper ourselves!!
Tropical Ecuadorian Food: We will visit themed restaurants with typical dishes from the Amazon jungle, the coast, and the Andes. We eat very exotic food like palm tree worms, ceviche with avocado and peanuts, fried food, etc.
Street Food Tour: we will visit the most famous street food market in the style of Antony Bourdain accompanied by Ecuadorians who will guide you regarding which foods to choose!
The Spanish Table: They are fun visits to different restaurants in the area where the rule is only to speak Spanish and if you don’t you must pay a fine!!
Cooking Class: Learn to cook typical Ecuadorian dishes such as ceviche, llapingachos, empanadas, yuca bread, etc.
Latin American Drinks Class: We will learn to make 4 different Latin American hot and cold drinks prepared with fresh ingredients.
